Sourcing with Purpose
The products we source reflect our commitment to a supply chain that’s good for people, animals, and the planet. We seek out partners who share our values around transparency and sustainability. Whether it’s seasonal produce from local farms or pantry staples from Regenerative Organic Certified producers, the products on our shelves reflect our belief that good food should be good for the planet too.
Produce
Certified Organic is our baseline standard, and we prioritize local and seasonal produce to support farming practices that care for the soil and reduce emissions from transporting food. As part of our effort to reduce our plastic footprint, we encourage producers to reduce plastic or switch to compostable packaging when possible.
Floral
When conventional floral foam breaks down, it releases microplastics and toxic substances into the environment. At Jimbo’s, we only use natural compostable floral foam, and our arrangement bases are made from recycled glass. We eliminated plastic from our bouquets and only offer paper sleeves and reusable bouquet bags. Although we source flowers from all over, we have a focus on organic and California-grown floral.
Seafood
All canned tuna on our shelves is either certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the world’s leading certification for sustainable fishing, or is pole-and-line caught, the most sustainable tuna fishing method that minimizes bycatch and impact on tuna populations. In our Seafood department, we’re in the process of developing official buying guidelines to ensure the seafood we source is rated as Best Choice (Green) or Good Alternative (Yellow) under the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program.
Wellness
We do not accept any sunscreen products that contain oxybenzone, octinoxate, and nano-particles, which are linked to coral damage. The sunscreen on our shelves is 100% reef safe. Although plastic packaging is hard to eliminate completely in Wellness, we prioritize products that come in reusable, compostable, and recyclable packaging and request more sustainable packaging from brands when possible.
Wine
All new submissions must at the very least be practicing sustainable winegrowing. When considering new products, we prioritize wines that are organic, biodynamic, and Regenerative Organic Certified.
Sourcing with Purpose
We’ve long supported organic, non-GMO, and local products. But we’re placing a growing emphasis on Regenerative Organic Agriculture, a practice that takes sustainability a step further. This holistic approach prioritizes soil health while also improving animal welfare and quality of life for farm workers. Regenerative agriculture doesn’t just do less harm to the environment, it actively works to restore ecosystems, reverse the effects of climate change, and enhance the lives of every being involved in the process.

Cover Crops
Cover crops naturally control pests, prevent erosion, and return nutrients to the soil.

Minimal Soil Disturbance
Low- and no-till practices protect the soil microbiome, maintain soil health, and maximize carbon capture.

No Synthetic Sprays
Keeping toxic fertilizers and pesticides out of the system is better for the soil, people, and animals.

Compost
Adding compost boosts soil health and biodiversity while also super-charging carbon capture.

Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) is the highest standard for regenerative agriculture. Look out for the 130+ (ROC) products on our shelves or find your favorite ROC products here!
