The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices. Their shared belief is that everyone deserves an informed choice about whether or not to consume genetically modified organisms.
The Non-GMO Project works in several different capacities to ensure the availability of non-GMO products and to help support informed choice. They offer North America’s only third party verification and labeling for non-GMO food and products. They also work to educate consumers and the food industry to help build awareness about GMOs and their impact on our health and food systems. One of the inherent risks of genetically modified crops and food items is that they contaminate non-GMO crops and foods through cross-pollination and/or contamination; so they also work with food manufacturers, distributors, growers, and seed suppliers to develop a standard for detection of GMOs and for the reduction of contamination risk of the non-GMO food supply with GMOs.
CCOF is one of the founders of the organic movement, and known nationally for its leadership and service. They have supported the organic community since 1973 and continue to advocate for organic integrity. From field to fork, they certify organic growers, livestock producers, ingredient suppliers, handlers, packaging companies, warehousing and storage facilities, brokers, wholesalers, private labelers, retailers, and restaurants. Their certified members include more than 2,700 organic operations that produce over 1,200 different organic crops, products, and services. They certify the majority of California’s organic agriculture and are active in 40 states and three countries, including Canada and Mexico.
Live Well San Diego is the County of San Diego’s vision for a region that is Building Better Health, Living Safely and Thriving. Although Live Well San Diego began in 2010 as a health strategy, it has evolved into a greater vision to improve the health, safety and well-being of all County residents. There are three components:
- Building Better Health calls for improving the health of all residents and supporting healthy choices
- Living Safely calls for ensuring residents are protected from crime and abuse, neighborhoods are safe and communities are resilient to disasters and emergencies
- Thriving calls for cultivating opportunities for all people and communities to grow, connect, and enjoy the highest quality of life
Live Well San Diego involves everyone. Only through a collective effort — in which all of us work together toward a shared purpose — can meaningful change be achieved in a region as large and diverse as San Diego County. Organizations can become Live Well San Diego Recognized Partners by making a formal commitment to support the Live Well San Diego vision. Recognized Live Well San Diego Partners include health care providers, community and faith-based organizations, businesses, school districts and other jurisdictions, including cities, tribal governments and military or veterans organizations. Jimbo’s…Naturally! is a proud partner of Live Well San Diego!
