Maintenance Technician
General Purpose: To provide our staff members and customers with a clean, safe environment, maintain the proper functioning of the store equipment through preventative maintenance, nd to assist the President/Store Manager with special projects.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure all stores facilities are operating with safe, functional equipment and machinery according to the safety guidelines set by the company and government regulations.<\li>
- Respond to repair requests within a timely manner.
- Maintain store lighting, replace burnt out bulbs in a timely manner.
- Assist with hanging store signage, store decorations, etc.
- Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance for overall facility as directed by Store Manager.
- Communicaate with Store Manager and/our Department Manager the status of any projects or repairs, including estimated costs, materials/supplies that need to be purchased, and time frame project/repair will be completed, etc.
- Analyze problems and fix them or recommend cost effective alternatives.
- Design, plan, estimate cost, and purchase materials for store projects.
- Build store fixtures, cabinets or any custom work that may be needed, as applicable.
- Primary contact for all outside repairs; contracted vendors, repair shops, etc.
- Make recommendations to Store Manager to continually work towards improving the day-to-day operations and equipment functions of the stores.
Other Responsibilites:
- Assist with equipment moves and meeting/event set-up as needed.
- Assist other team members in achieving the goals of the Department and the store.
- Attend scheduled one-on-one meetings with supervisor and all Store meeting.
- Adhere to all Maintence Department and Store Manager. Staff Member Handbook and the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must posses own tools and transportation.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of general store equipment and machinery.
- Experience in light construction ( framing, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC)and multi-faceted repairs.
- Intermediate math skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to handle several tasks at once.
- Self motivated, with the ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Inventive mind. Creative. Good problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Physical Demands:
- Capable of standing, walking, reaching and bending for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds throughout an assigned shift.
- Ability to climb and balance on step stool/ladder.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to work various hours and to maintain a quick pace based upon the needs of the stores and the workload.
Work Envionment:
- Willingness/Ability to work under a variety of environmental conditions and temperatures wet and dry for an extended period of time.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
